- Welcome to my class all the third graders and a big Welcome Back to my Fourth graders! I am excited to be sharing my love of science with all of you! For the parents I follow the Next Generation Science Standards which I love as it encourages students to think for themselves instead of memorizing facts from a book. Every year I find more and more new ideas I want to share with the kids. I currently do wear many other hats at St Gregory the Great so time is always an issue for me. I have set up a remind 101 site for each grade level and will do my best to keep you informed through that. With that being said I do not look at my site or emails once I am home so be aware I will not respond to homework questions until the next day at the earliest.
I am a very strong believer that the greatest tool we can give our children is the ability to be responsible. I will do everything in my power to help students accept that they are responsible for their learning and that there is nothing that they can’t learn!!!!. Science only meets two sessions a week- it is imperative that they come to class, are well prepared and have all their materials with them. There is generally always some work at home they will have to do weekly, especially for students who just work better at home- always check my website-
www.romoshive.weebly.com - I will try to keep it updated with what we are doing and what we will be doing. Students all need to have composition books for vocabulary. They also need to have ear phones/buds- we will be using the computer lab at lot as well as working independently on ipads so this is key for everyone’s sanity.
Students are awarded points pretty much weekly, participation and behavior both are extremely important is receiving maximum point. We will be using more project based assessments than pencil and paper and most of those will require time at home as well as use of the internet. Students will all have Brain Pop log ins and will be “frontloading” content at home so they are prepared for labs. I have already planned a field trip for each grade level and am hoping to do more as we progress through the year.
I look forward to this year and please do not hesitate to write me a note or I am out on the yard every morning.
God’s Blessings,
Angela Nolan Romo, M.Ed - Meet Mrs Romo
